Peter’s Denial Predicted

³¹ “Simon, Simon,^[a] look out. Satan^(A) has asked to sift you^[b] like wheat.^(B)

⁴⁶ “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you won’t fall into temptation.”

¹² For our struggle is not against flesh^(A) and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,^(B) against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil,^(C) spiritual forces in the heavens.^{(D) 13} For this reason take up the full armor^(E) of God, so that you may be able to resist^(F) in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand.

⁸ Be sober-minded,^(A) be alert.^(B) Your adversary the devil^(C) is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. ⁹ Resist him,^(D) firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.

³ But I fear that, as the serpent^(A) deceived^(B) Eve^(C) by his cunning, your minds may be seduced from a sincere and pure^[a] devotion to Christ.^(D)

¹³ For such people are false apostles,^(A) deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder! For Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

⁴ For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus,^(A) whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit,^(B) which you had not received, or a different gospel,^(C) which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly!

²⁰ In fact, you put up with it if someone enslaves you, if someone exploits^(A) you, if someone takes advantage of you, if someone is arrogant toward you, if someone slaps^(B) you in the face.

²⁰ But I have this against you: You tolerate the woman Jezebel,^(A) who calls herself a prophetess and teaches and deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat meat sacrificed to idols.^(B)
