¹⁵ Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; ¹⁶ for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it ^(A)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

¹⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; ¹⁸ for ^(B)I say to you, ^[a]I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

^19 (C)And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My ^(D)body which is given for you; ^(E)do this in remembrance of Me.”

²⁰ Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, ^(F)“This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, ^(A)“I am the bread of life. ^(B)He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never ^(C)thirst.

⁵¹ I am the living bread ^(A)which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and ^(B)the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

⁵² The Jews therefore ^(C)quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless ^(D)you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. ^54 (E)Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For My flesh is ^[a]food indeed, and My blood is ^[b]drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood ^(F)abides in Me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. ^58 (G)This is the bread which came down from heaven—not ^(H)as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

⁴¹ Then those who ^[a]gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. ^42 (A)And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ ^[b]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

^16 (A)The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the ^[a]communion of the blood of Christ? ^(B)The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For ^(C)we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.

^21 (A)You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and ^(B)the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the ^(C)Lord’s table and of the table of demons. ²² Or do we ^(D)provoke the Lord to jealousy? ^(E)Are we stronger than He?

Institution of the Lord’s Supper^(A)

²³ For ^(B)I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: ^(C)that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; ²⁴ and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ^[a]“Take, eat; this is My body which is ^[b]broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” ²⁵ In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death ^(D)till He comes.

Examine Yourself

²⁷ Therefore whoever eats ^(E)this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and ^[c]blood of the Lord. ²⁸ But ^(F)let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. ²⁹ For he who eats and drinks ^[d]in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the ^[e]Lord’s body.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ^(A)“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. ^19 (B)Go ^[a]therefore and ^(C)make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ^20 (D)teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am ^(E)with you always, even to the end of the age.” ^[b]Amen.

^16 (A)He who believes and is baptized will be saved; ^(B)but he who does not believe will be condemned.
