15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it (A)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for (B)I say to you, [a]I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 (C)And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My (D)body which is given for you; (E)do this in remembrance of Me.”

20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, (F)“This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless (D)you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 (E)Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is [a]food indeed, and My blood is [b]drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood (F)abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 (G)This is the bread which came down from heaven—not (H)as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

Institution of the Lord’s Supper(A)

23 For (B)I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: (C)that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, [a]“Take, eat; this is My body which is [b]broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death (D)till He comes.

Examine Yourself

27 Therefore whoever eats (E)this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and [c]blood of the Lord. 28 But (F)let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks [d]in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the [e]Lord’s body.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

What shall we say then? (A)Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who (B)died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that (C)as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus (D)were baptized into His death? Therefore we were (E)buried with Him through baptism into death, that (F)just as Christ was raised from the dead by (G)the glory of the Father, (H)even so we also should walk in newness of life.
