The Need for Watchfulness
34 “Be on your guard,(A) so that your minds are not dulled[a] from carousing,[b] drunkenness,(B) and worries of life,(C) or that day will come on you unexpectedly(D) 35 like a trap. For it will come on all who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 But be alert at all times,(E) praying that you may have strength[c] to escape(F) all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”
37 During(G) the day, he was teaching in the temple,(H) but in the evening he would go out and spend the night on what is called the Mount of Olives.(I) 38 Then all the people would come early in the morning to hear him in the temple.(J)

34 “Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life and that day does not catch you unexpectedly,(A) 35 like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”(B)
37 Every day he was teaching in the temple, and at night he would go out and spend the night on the Mount of Olives, as it was called.(C) 38 And all the people would get up early in the morning to listen to him in the temple.
