²⁶ people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For ^(A)the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

⁶⁵ And ^(A)among these nations you shall find no respite, and there shall be no resting place for the sole of your foot, but ^(B)the Lord will give you there a trembling heart and failing eyes and ^(C)a languishing soul. ⁶⁶ Your life shall hang in doubt before you. Night and day you shall be in dread and have no assurance of your life. ^67 (D)In the morning you shall say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and at evening you shall say, ‘If only it were morning!’ because of the dread that your heart shall feel, and ^(E)the sights that your eyes shall see.

The Coming of the Son of Man

²⁹ “Immediately after ^(A)the tribulation of those days ^(B)the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and ^(C)the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

³⁶ And as for those of you who are left, ^(A)I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The ^(B)sound of a ^(C)driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues.

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then ^(B)the heavens will pass away with a roar, and ^(C)the heavenly bodies^[a] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.^[b]

¹¹ Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, ^(D)what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, ^12 (E)waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and ^(F)the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!

²⁶ For ^(A)if we go on sinning deliberately ^(B)after receiving the knowledge of the truth, ^(C)there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, ^27 (D)but a fearful expectation of judgment, and ^(E)a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

^32 (A)Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, while your eyes look on and fail with longing for them all day long, ^(B)but you shall be helpless. ³³ A nation that you have not known shall eat up the fruit of your ground and of all your labors, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually, ³⁴ so that you are driven mad ^(C)by the sights that your eyes see.

²⁵ and ^(A)the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
