The Coming of the Son of Man

²⁵ “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves.^(A)

¹² When he broke the sixth seal, I looked, and there was a great earthquake; the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood,^{(A) 13} and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree drops its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.^{(B) 14} The sky vanished like a scroll rolling itself up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.^(C)

³⁰ I will show portents in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.^{(A) 31} The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.^(B)

The Resurrection of the Dead

12 “At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.^(A)

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be destroyed with fire, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed.^[a](A)

¹¹ Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of persons ought you to be in leading lives of holiness and godliness, ¹² waiting for and hastening^[b] the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set ablaze and destroyed and the elements will melt with fire?

The Dead Are Judged

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sat on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his^[a] presence, and no place was found for them.^(A)
