^38 (A)And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces ³⁹ and have the best seats in the synagogues and ^(B)the places of honor at feasts,

The Parable of the Wedding Feast

⁷ Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed ^(A)how they chose the places of honor, saying to them,

Beware of the Leaven of the Pharisees

12 In the meantime, ^(A)when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another, he began to say to his disciples first, ^(B)“Beware of ^(C)the leaven of the Pharisees, ^(D)which is hypocrisy.

⁹ I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority.

³ Do nothing from ^(A)selfish ambition or ^(B)conceit, but in ^(C)humility count others more significant than yourselves. ⁴ Let each of you ^(D)look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. ^5 (E)Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,^[a]

^10 (A)Love one another with brotherly affection. ^(B)Outdo one another in showing honor.

⁶ Jesus said to them, “Watch and ^(A)beware of ^(B)the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

¹⁵ Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message.
