²⁶ And they were not able in the presence of the people to trap him by what he said, and being amazed by his answer they became silent.

The Question about Paying Tribute

²⁰ So they watched him and sent spies who pretended to be honest, in order to trap him by what he said and then to hand him over to the jurisdiction and authority of the governor.

¹⁰ There are also many rebellious people, idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision;^(A)

⁸ As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people, of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith, also oppose the truth.^{(A) 9} But they will not make much progress because, as in the case of those two men,^[a] their folly will become plain to everyone.

¹⁷ When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame, and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things being done by him.

³⁴ When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together,
