²³ But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, ^[a]“Why do you test Me?

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ^(A)“He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;

^13 (A)And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are ^(B)naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

⁹ nor let us ^[a]tempt Christ, as ^(A)some of them also tempted, and ^(B)were destroyed by serpents;

²⁴ But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He ^(A)knew all men, ²⁵ and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for ^(B)He knew what was in man.

^20 (B)So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.

^53 [a]And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail Him vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things, ⁵⁴ lying in wait for Him, ^[b]and ^(A)seeking to catch Him in something He might say, ^[c]that they might accuse Him.

¹⁶ Others, testing Him, ^(A)sought from Him a sign from heaven. ^17 (B)But ^(C)He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls.

⁸ But He ^(A)knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, “Arise and stand here.” And he arose and stood.

²² But when Jesus ^(A)perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
