Glory in the Highest

⁸ Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. ⁹ And ^[a]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, ^(A)and they were greatly afraid. ¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, ^(B)“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy ^(C)which will be to all people. ^11 (D)For there is born to you this day in the city of David ^(E)a Savior, ^(F)who is Christ the Lord.

²³ And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord God, “when I am ^(A)hallowed in you before their eyes. ²⁴ For ^(B)I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. ^25 (C)Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you ^(D)from all your filthiness and from all your idols. ²⁶ I will give you a ^(E)new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ I will put My ^(F)Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

¹² Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. ¹³ I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus ^(A)who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

¹³ Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in ^(A)white robes, and where did they come from?”

¹⁴ And I said to him, ^[a]“Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, ^(B)“These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and ^(C)washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will ^(D)dwell among them. ^16 (E)They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; ^(F)the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; ¹⁷ for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne ^(G)will shepherd them and lead them to ^[b]living fountains of waters. ^(H)And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
