⁴⁷ And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

The Authority of Jesus

²⁸ And when Jesus finished these sayings, ^(A)the crowds were astonished at his teaching,

³² and ^(A)they were astonished at his teaching, ^(B)for his word possessed authority.

¹⁵ The Jews therefore ^(A)marveled, saying, “How is it that this man has learning,^[a] when he has never studied?”

⁴⁶ The officers answered, ^(A)“No one ever spoke like this man!”

²² And all spoke well of him and marveled at ^(A)the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, ^(B)“Is not this ^(C)Joseph's son?”

²² And ^(A)they were astonished at his teaching, ^(B)for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.
