³⁸ Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.^(A)

³³ In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, ³⁴ “Go away! What do you want with us,^(A) Jesus of Nazareth?^(B) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are^(C)—the Holy One of God!”^(D)

³⁵ “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly.^(E) “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.

³⁶ All the people were amazed^(F) and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority^(G) and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!”

²⁴ But I want you to know that the Son of Man^(A) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” ²⁵ Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.

¹⁴ Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”^{(A) 15} The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

⁴⁵ “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master,^(A) the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
