2 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way^(A)

3 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, ^(B)Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

¹⁴ And this ^(A)gospel of the kingdom ^(B)will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

²² All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.

Desire to Visit Rome

⁸ First, ^(A)I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that ^(B)your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

²¹ But when Paul ^(A)appealed to be reserved for the decision of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I could send him to Caesar.”

²⁸ Then one of them, named ^(A)Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of ^(B)Claudius Caesar.

^11 (A)For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. ^(B)I appeal to Caesar.”

^15 (A)And He said to them, “Go into all the world ^(B)and preach the gospel to every creature.

⁹ Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is ^(A)preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
