19 Yeshua entered Yericho and was passing through, 2 when a man named Zakkai appeared who was a chief tax-collector and a wealthy man. 3 He was trying to see who Yeshua was; but, being short, he couldn’t, because of the crowd. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed a fig tree in order to see him, for Yeshua was about to pass that way. 5 When he came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zakkai! Hurry! Come down, because I have to stay at your house today!” 6 He climbed down as fast as he could and welcomed Yeshua joyfully. 7 Everyone who saw it began muttering, “He has gone to be the house-guest of a sinner.” 8 But Zakkai stood there and said to the Lord, “Here, Lord, I am giving half of all I own to the poor; and if I have cheated anyone, I will pay him back four times as much.” 9 Yeshua said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, inasmuch as this man too is a son of Avraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost.”
11 While they were listening to this, Yeshua went on to tell a parable, because he was near Yerushalayim, and the people supposed that the Kingdom of God was about to appear at any moment. 12 Therefore he said, “A nobleman went to a country far away to have himself crowned king and then return. 13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten manim [a maneh is about three months’ wages] and said to them, ‘Do business with this while I’m away.’ 14 But his countrymen hated him, and they sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to rule over us.’
15 “However, he returned, having been made king, and sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had earned in his business dealings. 16 The first one came in and said, ‘Sir, your maneh has earned ten more manim.’ 17 ‘Excellent!’ he said to him. ‘You are a good servant. Because you have been trustworthy in a small matter, I am putting you in charge of ten towns.’ 18 The second one came and said, ‘Sir, your maneh has earned five more manim; 19 and to this one he said, ‘You be in charge of five towns.’
20 “Then another one came and said, ‘Sir, here is your maneh. I kept it hidden in a piece of cloth, 21 because I was afraid of you — you take out what you didn’t put in, and you harvest what you didn’t plant.’ 22 To him the master said, ‘You wicked servant! I will judge you by your own words! So you knew, did you, that I was a severe man, taking out what I didn’t put in and harvesting what I didn’t plant? 23 Then why didn’t you put my money in the bank? Then, when I returned, I would have gotten it back with interest!’ 24 To those standing by, he said, ‘Take the maneh from him and give it to the one with ten manim.’ 25 They said to him, ‘Sir, he already has ten manim!’ 26 But the master answered, ‘I tell you, everyone who has something will be given more; but from anyone who has nothing, even what he does have will be taken away. 27 However, as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king, bring them here and execute them in my presence!’”
28 After saying this, Yeshua went on and began the ascent to Yerushalayim. 29 As he approached Beit-Pagei and Beit-Anyah, by the Mount of Olives, he sent two talmidim, 30 instructing them, “Go into the village ahead; on entering it, you will find a colt tied up that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks why you are untying it, tell him, ‘The Lord needs it.’” 32 Those who were sent went off and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 and they said, “Because the Lord needs it.” 35 They brought it to Yeshua; and, throwing their robes on the colt, they put Yeshua on it. 36 As he went along, people carpeted the road with their clothing; 37 and as he came near Yerushalayim, where the road descends from the Mount of Olives, the entire band of talmidim began to sing and praise God at the top of their voices for all the powerful works they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the King who is coming in the name of Adonai!”[a]
“Shalom in heaven!”
and
“Glory in the highest places!”
39 Some of the P’rushim in the crowd said to him, “Rabbi! Reprimand your talmidim!” 40 But he answered them, “I tell you that if they keep quiet, the stones will shout!”
41 When Yeshua had come closer and could see the city, he wept over it, 42 saying, “If you only knew today what is needed for shalom! But for now it is hidden from your sight. 43 For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will set up a barricade around you, encircle you, hem you in on every side, 44 and dash you to the ground, you and your children within your walls, leaving not one stone standing on another — and all because you did not recognize your opportunity when God offered it!”
45 Then Yeshua entered the Temple grounds and began driving out those doing business there, 46 saying to them, “The Tanakh says, ‘My House is to be a house of prayer,’[b] but you have made it into a den of robbers!”[c]
47 Every day he taught at the Temple. The head cohanim, the Torah-teachers and the leaders of the people tried to find a way of putting an end to him; 48 but they couldn’t find any way of doing it, because all the people were hanging onto his every word.

2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
28 And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.
29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.
31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.
32 And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.
33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?
34 And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;
46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

Jesús y Zaqueo
19 Habiendo entrado Jesús en Jericó, iba pasando por la ciudad. 2 Y sucedió que un varón llamado Zaqueo, que era jefe de los publicanos, y rico, 3 procuraba ver quién era Jesús; pero no podía a causa de la multitud, pues era pequeño de estatura. 4 Y corriendo delante, subió a un árbol sicómoro para verle; porque había de pasar por allí. 5 Cuando Jesús llegó a aquel lugar, mirando hacia arriba, le vio, y le dijo: Zaqueo, date prisa, desciende, porque hoy es necesario que pose yo en tu casa. 6 Entonces él descendió aprisa, y le recibió gozoso. 7 Al ver esto, todos murmuraban, diciendo que había entrado a posar con un hombre pecador. 8 Entonces Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: He aquí, Señor, la mitad de mis bienes doy a los pobres; y si en algo he defraudado a alguno, se lo devuelvo cuadruplicado. 9 Jesús le dijo: Hoy ha venido la salvación a esta casa; por cuanto él también es hijo de Abraham. 10 Porque el Hijo del Hombre vino a buscar y a salvar lo que se había perdido.(A)
Parábola de las diez minas
11 Oyendo ellos estas cosas, prosiguió Jesús y dijo una parábola, por cuanto estaba cerca de Jerusalén, y ellos pensaban que el reino de Dios se manifestaría inmediatamente. 12 Dijo, pues: Un hombre noble se fue a un país lejano, para recibir un reino y volver. 13 Y llamando a diez siervos suyos, les dio diez minas,[a] y les dijo: Negociad entre tanto que vengo. 14 Pero sus conciudadanos le aborrecían, y enviaron tras él una embajada, diciendo: No queremos que este reine sobre nosotros. 15 Aconteció que vuelto él, después de recibir el reino, mandó llamar ante él a aquellos siervos a los cuales había dado el dinero, para saber lo que había negociado cada uno. 16 Vino el primero, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha ganado diez minas. 17 Él le dijo: Está bien, buen siervo; por cuanto en lo poco has sido fiel, tendrás autoridad sobre diez ciudades. 18 Vino otro, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha producido cinco minas. 19 Y también a este dijo: Tú también sé sobre cinco ciudades. 20 Vino otro, diciendo: Señor, aquí está tu mina, la cual he tenido guardada en un pañuelo; 21 porque tuve miedo de ti, por cuanto eres hombre severo, que tomas lo que no pusiste, y siegas lo que no sembraste. 22 Entonces él le dijo: Mal siervo, por tu propia boca te juzgo. Sabías que yo era hombre severo, que tomo lo que no puse, y que siego lo que no sembré; 23 ¿por qué, pues, no pusiste mi dinero en el banco, para que al volver yo, lo hubiera recibido con los intereses? 24 Y dijo a los que estaban presentes: Quitadle la mina, y dadla al que tiene las diez minas. 25 Ellos le dijeron: Señor, tiene diez minas. 26 Pues yo os digo que a todo el que tiene, se le dará; mas al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene se le quitará.(B) 27 Y también a aquellos mis enemigos que no querían que yo reinase sobre ellos, traedlos acá, y decapitadlos delante de mí.(C)
La entrada triunfal en Jerusalén

28 Dicho esto, iba delante subiendo a Jerusalén. 29 Y aconteció que llegando cerca de Betfagé y de Betania, al monte que se llama de los Olivos, envió dos de sus discípulos, 30 diciendo: Id a la aldea de enfrente, y al entrar en ella hallaréis un pollino atado, en el cual ningún hombre ha montado jamás; desatadlo, y traedlo. 31 Y si alguien os preguntare: ¿Por qué lo desatáis? le responderéis así: Porque el Señor lo necesita. 32 Fueron los que habían sido enviados, y hallaron como les dijo. 33 Y cuando desataban el pollino, sus dueños les dijeron: ¿Por qué desatáis el pollino? 34 Ellos dijeron: Porque el Señor lo necesita. 35 Y lo trajeron a Jesús; y habiendo echado sus mantos sobre el pollino, subieron a Jesús encima. 36 Y a su paso tendían sus mantos por el camino. 37 Cuando llegaban ya cerca de la bajada del monte de los Olivos, toda la multitud de los discípulos, gozándose, comenzó a alabar a Dios a grandes voces por todas las maravillas que habían visto, 38 diciendo: ¡Bendito el rey que viene en el nombre del Señor;(D) paz en el cielo, y gloria en las alturas! 39 Entonces algunos de los fariseos de entre la multitud le dijeron: Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos. 40 Él, respondiendo, les dijo: Os digo que si estos callaran, las piedras clamarían.
41 Y cuando llegó cerca de la ciudad, al verla, lloró sobre ella, 42 diciendo: ¡Oh, si también tú conocieses, a lo menos en este tu día, lo que es para tu paz! Mas ahora está encubierto de tus ojos. 43 Porque vendrán días sobre ti, cuando tus enemigos te rodearán con vallado, y te sitiarán, y por todas partes te estrecharán, 44 y te derribarán a tierra, y a tus hijos dentro de ti, y no dejarán en ti piedra sobre piedra, por cuanto no conociste el tiempo de tu visitación.
Purificación del templo

45 Y entrando en el templo, comenzó a echar fuera a todos los que vendían y compraban en él, 46 diciéndoles: Escrito está: Mi casa es casa de oración;(E) mas vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones.(F) 47 Y enseñaba cada día en el templo;(G) pero los principales sacerdotes, los escribas y los principales del pueblo procuraban matarle. 48 Y no hallaban nada que pudieran hacerle, porque todo el pueblo estaba suspenso oyéndole.
