⁴⁸ and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to ^(A)hear Him.

¹⁴ Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of ^(A)Thyatira, who worshiped God. ^(B)The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.

⁴⁶ The officers answered, ^(A)“No man ever spoke like this Man!”

⁴⁷ Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? ⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? ⁴⁹ But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”

² And ^(A)the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.

^3 (B)Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the ^(C)twelve. ⁴ So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.

¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they ^[a]feared the people—for they knew He had spoken this parable against them.

^15 (B)Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. ¹⁶ And they sent to Him their disciples with the ^(C)Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not ^[a]regard the person of men.

³ Then he ^(A)read from it in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate ^[a]from morning until midday, before the men and women and those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.
