²⁷ But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ”

^14 (A)But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

⁷ But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out ^(A)his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

³⁰ But if the Lord creates ^(A)a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they ^(B)go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.”

^31 (C)Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, ³² and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and ^(D)all the men with Korah, with all their goods. ³³ So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. ³⁴ Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up also!”

³⁵ And ^(E)a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.

²² For these are the days of vengeance, that ^(A)all things which are written may be fulfilled.

God’s Wrath on His Enemies

³⁶ Now the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land, ³⁷ those very men who brought the evil report about the land, ^(A)died by the plague before the Lord.
