² A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was rich.

²⁴ Jesus looked at him^[a] and said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!^{(A) 25} Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

²⁶ Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” ²⁷ He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”^(B)

⁵ Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. All Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.^{(A) 6} His heart was courageous in the ways of the Lord; furthermore, he removed the high places and the sacred poles^[a] from Judah.^(B)
