10 “Two men,” he said, “went up to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, the other was a tax-collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed in this way to himself: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like the other people—greedy, unjust, immoral, or even like this tax-collector.

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness(A) and looked down on everyone else,(B) Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray,(C) one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself(D) and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.

9 Yesu alitoa mfano huu kwa ajili ya wale waliojiona kuwa wao ni wenye haki na kuwadharau wengine. 10 Watu wawili walikwenda hekaluni kusali, mmoja wao alikuwa Farisayo na mwingine alikuwa mtoza ushuru. 11 yule Farisayo alisimama akasali kimoyomoyo. ‘Ninakushukuru Mungu kwa sababu mimi si kama watu wengine: wany ang’anyi, wadhalimu, wazinzi, au kama huyu mtoza ushuru.
