⁸ I tell you, he will give justice to them ^(A)speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, ^(B)will he find faith on earth?”

^23 (A)Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for ^(B)he who promised is faithful. ²⁴ And ^(C)let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, ^25 (D)not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and ^(E)all the more as you see ^(F)the Day drawing near.

²⁶ For ^(G)if we go on sinning deliberately ^(H)after receiving the knowledge of the truth, ^(I)there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

⁸ But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and ^(A)a thousand years as one day. ^9 (B)The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise ^(C)as some count slowness, but ^(D)is patient toward you,^{[a] (E)}not wishing that any should perish, but ^(F)that all should reach repentance.

⁹ “Then ^(A)they will deliver you up ^(B)to tribulation and ^(C)put you to death, and ^(D)you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰ And then many will fall away^[a] and ^(E)betray one another and hate one another. ¹¹ And many ^(F)false prophets will arise ^(G)and lead many astray. ¹² And because lawlessness will be increased, ^(H)the love of many will grow cold. ^13 (I)But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

^26 (A)Just as it was in the days of ^(B)Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. ^27 (C)They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise, just as it was in the days of ^(D)Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, ^29 (E)but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all— ³⁰ so will it be ^(F)on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

³ And ^(A)in their greed they will exploit you ^(B)with false words. ^(C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

The Day of the Lord

5 Now concerning ^(A)the times and the seasons, brothers,^{[a] (B)}you have no need to have anything written to you. ² For you yourselves are fully aware that ^(C)the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. ³ While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then ^(D)sudden destruction will come upon them ^(E)as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
