Jesus Blesses Little Children

¹⁵ People were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them, and when the disciples saw it, they sternly ordered them not to do it.

⁸ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything out of friendship, at least because of his persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.^(A)

⁹ “So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.^{(B) 10} For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

⁴⁰ Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “So, could you not stay awake with me one hour?^{(A) 41} Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial;^[a] the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”^{(B) 42} Again he went away for the second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”^{(C) 43} Again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ So leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words.

⁸ Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me,^(A)

³⁹ Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop.”^(A)

³⁸ Then he shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”^(A)
