¹⁹ “Yet you say, ‘Why ^(A)should the son not bear the guilt of the father?’ Because the son has done what is lawful and right, and has kept all My statutes and observed them, he shall surely live. ^20 (B)The soul who sins shall die. ^(C)The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. ^(D)The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, ^(E)and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

¹⁶ “O Lord, ^(A)according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, ^(B)Your holy mountain; because for our sins, ^(C)and for the iniquities of our fathers, ^(D)Jerusalem and Your people ^(E)are a reproach to all those around us. ¹⁷ Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, ^(F)and ^(G)for the Lord’s sake ^[a]cause Your face to shine on ^[b]Your sanctuary, ^(H)which is desolate. ^18 (I)O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes ^(J)and see our desolations, and the city ^(K)which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”
