¹¹ The Pharisee ^(A)stood and prayed thus with himself, ^(B)‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

The Model Prayer^(A)

⁵ “And when you pray, you shall not be like the ^[a]hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

Forgiveness and Prayer^(A)

²⁵ “And whenever you stand praying, ^(B)if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

¹⁷ Because you say, ^(A)‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—

⁹ but if you ^[a]show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as ^(A)transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet ^(B)stumble in one point, ^(C)he is guilty of all. ¹¹ For He who said, ^(D)“Do not commit adultery,” also said, ^(E)“Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak and so do as those who will be judged by ^(F)the law of liberty.

Glory to God for His Grace^(A)

¹² And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has ^(B)enabled me, ^(C)because He counted me faithful, ^(D)putting me into the ministry, ¹³ although ^(E)I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an ^[a]insolent man; but I obtained mercy because ^(F)I did it ignorantly in unbelief. ^14 (G)And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, ^(H)with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. ^15 (I)This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that ^(J)Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

⁶ concerning zeal, ^(A)persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
