¹⁰ “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?”

They said to Him, “The first.”

Jesus said to them, ^(A)“Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you. ³² For ^(B)John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; ^(C)but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward ^[a]relent and believe him.

^30 (A)And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive.

⁵ They knew me from the first, if they were willing to testify, that according to ^(A)the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

⁶ But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brethren, ^(A)I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; ^(B)concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”

⁷ And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. ^8 (C)For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection—and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

⁴⁶ saying to them, “It is written, ^(A)‘My house ^[a]is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ^(B)‘den of thieves.’ ”

²⁹ And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors ^[a]justified God, ^(A)having been baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and ^[b]lawyers rejected ^(B)the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ^(A)“What is the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the Lord the third day?”

⁵ “Return and tell Hezekiah ^(A)the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: ^(B)“I have heard your prayer, I have seen ^(C)your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.
