¹⁰ “Two men ^(A)went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, ^(A)the tax collectors and ^(B)the prostitutes go into ^(C)the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you ^(D)in the way of righteousness, and ^(E)you did not believe him, but ^(F)the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward ^(G)change your minds and believe him.

³⁰ And listen to the plea of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. And listen in heaven your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.

⁵ They have known for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that ^(A)according to the strictest ^(B)party of our ^(C)religion I have lived as ^(D)a Pharisee.

⁶ Now when Paul perceived that one part were ^(A)Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Brothers, ^(B)I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. It is ^(C)with respect to the ^(D)hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.” ⁷ And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. ⁸ For the Sadducees ^(E)say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.

⁴⁶ saying to them, “It is written, ^(A)‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but ^(B)you have made it a den of robbers.”

²⁹ (^(A)When all the people heard this, and ^(B)the tax collectors too, they declared God just,^{[a] (C)}having been baptized with ^(D)the baptism of John, ^30 (E)but the Pharisees and ^(F)the lawyers ^(G)rejected ^(H)the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)

⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?”

⁵ “Turn back, and say to Hezekiah ^(A)the leader of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: ^(B)I have heard your prayer; ^(C)I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord,
