(A)And the apostles said to (B)the Lord, “Increase our faith!” And (C)the Lord said, “If you have faith like (D)a mustard seed, you would say to this (E)mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would [a]obey you.

“But which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come immediately and [b]sit down to eat’? But will he not say to him, ‘(F)Prepare something for me to eat, and, [c]clothing yourself properly, serve me while I eat and drink; and [d]afterward you [e]may eat and drink’? Is he grateful to the slave because he did the things which were commanded? 10 In this way, you also, when you do all the things which are commanded of you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’”

Increase Our Faith

(A)The apostles said to the Lord, (B)“Increase our faith!” And the Lord said, (C)“If you had faith like (D)a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this (E)mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Unworthy Servants

“Will any one of you who has a servant[a] plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’? Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and (F)dress properly,[b] and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are (G)unworthy servants;[c] we have only done what was our duty.’”
