^16 (A)“The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

³² For ^(A)John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; ^(B)but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward ^[a]relent and believe him.

²⁴ Yes, and ^(A)all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also ^[a]foretold these days. ^25 (B)You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ^(C)‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

⁹ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, ^(A)and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ For this is he of whom it is written:

¹¹ “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. ^12 (C)And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. ^13 (D)For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. ¹⁴ And if you are willing to receive it, he is ^(E)Elijah who is to come.

⁴⁵ Philip found ^(A)Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom ^(B)Moses in the law, and also the ^(C)prophets, wrote—Jesus ^(D)of Nazareth, the ^(E)son of Joseph.”

³¹ But he said to him, ^(A)‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, ^(B)neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

²⁶ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. ²⁷ This is he of whom it is written:

²⁸ For I say to you, among those born of women there is ^[a]not a ^(B)greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

²⁹ And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors ^[b]justified God, ^(C)having been baptized with the baptism of John.

² and saying, “Repent, for ^(A)the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

¹⁸ But ^(A)those things which God foretold ^(B)by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.
