Repent or Perish

13 At that very time there were some present who told Jesus[a] about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.(A) He asked them, “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans?(B) No, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all perish as they did. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them—do you think that they were worse offenders than all the other people living in Jerusalem?(C) No, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all perish just as they did.”

A Call to Repentance

13 About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.”
