Arrepiéntanse o perecerán
13 En esa misma ocasión había allí algunos que contaron a Jesús acerca de los galileos cuya sangre Pilato(A) había mezclado[a] con la de sus sacrificios. 2 Él les respondió: «¿Piensan que estos galileos eran más pecadores(B)que todos los demás galileos, porque sufrieron esto? 3 Les digo que no; al contrario, si ustedes no se arrepienten, todos perecerán igualmente. 4 ¿O piensan que aquellos dieciocho, sobre los que cayó la torre en Siloé(C)y los mató, eran más deudores[b](D)que todos los hombres que habitan en Jerusalén? 5 Les digo que no; al contrario, si ustedes no se arrepienten, todos perecerán igualmente».
Parábola de la higuera estéril
6 Entonces Jesús les dijo esta parábola: «Cierto hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viña; y fue a buscar fruto de ella y no lo halló(E). 7 Y dijo al viñador: “Mira, hace tres años que vengo a buscar fruto en esta higuera, y no lo hallo. Córtala(F). ¿Por qué ha de cansar la tierra?”. 8 El viñador le respondió: “Señor, déjala por este año todavía, hasta que yo cave alrededor de ella, y le eche abono, 9 y si da fruto el año que viene, bien; y si no, córtala”».
Jesús hace un milagro en día de reposo
10 Jesús estaba enseñando en una de las sinagogas un día de reposo(G), 11 y había allí una mujer que durante dieciocho años había tenido una enfermedad causada por un espíritu(H); estaba encorvada, y de ninguna manera se podía enderezar. 12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo: «Mujer, has quedado libre de tu enfermedad».
13 Y puso las manos sobre ella(I), y al instante se enderezó y glorificaba a Dios(J). 14 Pero el oficial de la sinagoga(K), indignado porque Jesús había sanado en día de reposo(L), reaccionó diciendo[c] a la multitud: «Hay seis días en los cuales se debe trabajar(M); vengan, pues, en esos días y sean sanados, y no en día de reposo».
15 Entonces el Señor(N) le respondió: «Hipócritas, ¿no desata cada uno de ustedes su buey o su asno del pesebre en día de reposo(O)y lo lleva a beber? 16 Y esta, que es hija de Abraham(P), a la que Satanás ha tenido atada durante dieciocho largos años(Q), ¿no debía ser libertada de esta ligadura en el día de reposo?».
17 Al decir Él esto, todos Sus adversarios se avergonzaban, pero toda la multitud se regocijaba(R) por todas las cosas gloriosas hechas por Él.
Parábola del grano de mostaza
18 Entonces Jesús (S)decía: «¿A qué es semejante el reino de Dios y con qué lo compararé(T)? 19 Es semejante a un grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y echó en su huerto; y creció y se hizo árbol, y las aves del cielo anidaron en sus ramas».
Parábola de la levadura
20 Y volvió a decir: «¿A qué compararé el reino de Dios(U)? 21 (V)Es semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y escondió en tres medidas (39 litros) de harina hasta que todo quedó fermentado».
La puerta estrecha
22 Pasaba Jesús por ciudades y aldeas, enseñando, mientras proseguía camino a Jerusalén(W). 23 Alguien le preguntó: «Señor, ¿son pocos los que se salvan?». Y Él les dijo:
24 «Esfuércense por entrar por la puerta estrecha(X) , porque les digo que muchos tratarán de entrar y no podrán. 25 Después que el dueño de la casa se levante y cierre la puerta(Y), y ustedes, estando fuera, comiencen a llamar a la puerta, diciendo: “Señor, ábrenos(Z)”. Él respondiendo, les dirá: “No sé de dónde son(AA)”. 26 Entonces comenzarán a decir(AB): “Comimos y bebimos en Tu presencia, y enseñaste en nuestras calles”; 27 y Él dirá: “Les digo que no sé de dónde son(AC); apártense de Mí, todos los que hacen iniquidad(AD)”.
28 »Allí será el llanto y el crujir de dientes(AE) cuando vean a Abraham, a Isaac, a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el reino de Dios, pero ustedes echados fuera. 29 Y vendrán del oriente y del occidente, del norte y del sur, y se sentarán[d]a la mesa en el reino de Dios(AF). 30 Por tanto, hay últimos que serán primeros, y hay primeros que serán últimos(AG)».
Lamento sobre Jerusalén
31 En ese momento llegaron unos fariseos y dijeron a Jesús: «Sal y vete de aquí, porque Herodes(AH) te quiere matar». 32 Y Él les dijo: «Vayan y díganle a ese zorro: “Yo expulso demonios, y hago curaciones hoy y mañana, y al tercer día cumplo Mi propósito[e](AI)”. 33 Sin embargo, debo seguir Mi camino, hoy, mañana y pasado mañana(AJ); porque no puede ser que un profeta(AK)muera fuera de Jerusalén.
34 »¡(AL) Jerusalén, Jerusalén, la que mata a los profetas y apedrea a los que le son enviados! ¡Cuántas veces quise juntar a tus hijos, como la gallina a sus pollitos debajo de sus alas(AM) , y no quisiste! 35 Por tanto, la casa de ustedes se les deja desierta[f]; y les digo que no me verán más, hasta que llegue el tiempo en que digan: “Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor(AN)”».

Repent or Perish
13 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate(A) had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?(B) 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam(C) fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent,(D) you too will all perish.”
6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.(E) 7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down!(F) Why should it use up the soil?’
8 “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”
Jesus Heals a Crippled Woman on the Sabbath
10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,(G) 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years.(H) She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her,(I) and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath,(J) the synagogue leader(K) said to the people, “There are six days for work.(L) So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”
15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?(M) 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham,(N) whom Satan(O) has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated,(P) but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.
The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast(Q)(R)
18 Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God(S) like?(T) What shall I compare it to? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree,(U) and the birds perched in its branches.”(V)
20 Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? 21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough.”(W)
The Narrow Door
22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.(X) 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door,(Y) because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’(Z)
26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’
27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’(AA)
28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth,(AB) when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west(AC) and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”(AD)
Jesus’ Sorrow for Jerusalem(AE)(AF)
31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod(AG) wants to kill you.”
32 He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’(AH) 33 In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet(AI) can die outside Jerusalem!
34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,(AJ) and you were not willing. 35 Look, your house is left to you desolate.(AK) I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’[b]”(AL)

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
6 And he told this parable:(F) “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his vineyard. He came looking for fruit on it and found none.(G) 7 He told the vineyard worker, ‘Listen, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down!(H) Why should it even waste the soil?’(I)
8 “But he replied to him, ‘Sir,[b] leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.(J) 9 Perhaps it will produce fruit next year, but if not, you can cut it down.’”
Healing a Daughter of Abraham
10 As he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath,(K) 11 a woman was there who had been disabled by a spirit[c](L) for over eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.[d] 12 When Jesus saw her, he called out to her,[e] “Woman, you are free of your disability.” 13 Then he laid his hands on her,(M) and instantly she was restored(N) and began to glorify God.(O)
14 But the leader of the synagogue, indignant(P) because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, responded by telling the crowd, “There are six days when work should be done;(Q) therefore come on those days and be healed and not on the Sabbath day.”
15 But the Lord answered him and said, “Hypocrites!(R) Doesn’t each one of you untie his ox(S) or donkey from the feeding trough(T) on the Sabbath and lead it to water?(U) 16 Satan(V) has bound(W) this woman, a daughter of Abraham,(X) for eighteen years—shouldn’t she be untied from this bondage[f] on the Sabbath day?”
17 When he had said these things, all his adversaries(Y) were humiliated,(Z) but the whole crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things he was doing.(AA)

18 He said, therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like,(AB) and what can I compare it to? 19 It’s like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches.”
20 Again he said, “What can I compare the kingdom of God(AC) to? 21 It’s like leaven[g](AD) that a woman took and mixed into fifty pounds[h] of flour until all of it was leavened.”
The Narrow Way
22 He went through one town and village after another, teaching and making his way to Jerusalem.(AE) 23 “Lord,” someone asked him, “are only a few people going to be saved?” (AF)
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door,(AG) because I tell you, many will try to enter and won’t be able 25 once the homeowner gets up and shuts the door.(AH) Then you will stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up for us!’ He will answer you, ‘I don’t know you or where you’re from.’ 26 Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 But he will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you or where you’re from. Get away from me,(AI) all you evildoers!’ 28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth(AJ) in that place,(AK) when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God,(AL) but yourselves thrown out. 29 They will come from east and west, from north and south, to share the banquet[i] in the kingdom of God. 30 Note this: Some who are last will be first, and some who are first will be last.”(AM)
Jesus and Herod Antipas
31 At that time some Pharisees came and told him, “Go, get out of here. Herod(AN) wants to kill you.”(AO)
32 He said to them, “Go tell that fox, ‘Look, I’m driving out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will complete my work.’[j](AP) 33 Yet it is necessary that I(AQ) travel today, tomorrow, and the next day, because it is not possible for a prophet(AR) to perish(AS) outside of Jerusalem.
Jesus’s Lamentation over Jerusalem
34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem,(AT) who kills the prophets and stones(AU) those who are sent to her.(AV) How often I wanted to gather your children(AW) together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,(AX) but you were not willing!(AY) 35 See, your house is abandoned to you.(AZ) I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when[k] you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’!”[l](BA)
