^9 [a]And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can ^(A)cut it down.’ ”

^2 (A)Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He ^[a]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear ^(B)more fruit.

^8 (A)but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.

^15 (A)who killed both the Lord Jesus and ^(B)their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God ^(C)and are ^[a]contrary to all men,

¹⁴ should we ^(A)again break Your commandments, and ^(B)join in marriage with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be ^(C)angry with us until You had ^[a]consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor? ¹⁵ O Lord God of Israel, ^(D)You are righteous, for we are left as a remnant, as it is this day. ^(E)Here we are before You, ^(F)in our guilt, though no one can stand before You because of this!”

⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters saying:

⁷ And I heard ^[d]another from the altar saying, “Even so, ^(F)Lord God Almighty, ^(G)true and righteous are Your judgments.”

^5 (A)we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. ^6 (B)Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land. ⁷ O Lord, ^(C)righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.
