Jesus Laments over Jerusalem^(A)

^34 (B)“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

¹⁷ ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, ^(A)You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. ^(B)There is nothing too ^[a]hard for You. ¹⁸ You show ^(C)lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them—the Great, ^(D)the Mighty God, whose name is ^(E)the Lord of hosts. ¹⁹ You are ^(F)great in counsel and mighty in ^[b]work, for Your ^(G)eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, ^(H)to give everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his doings. ²⁰ You have set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, to this day, and in Israel and among other men; and You have made Yourself ^(I)a name, as it is this day.

^3 (A)who being the brightness of His glory and the express ^(B)image of His person, and ^(C)upholding all things by the word of His power, ^(D)when He had ^[a]by Himself ^[b]purged ^[c]our sins, ^(E)sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

^4 (A)“Hear, O Israel: ^[a]The Lord our God, the Lord is one! ^5 (B)You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, ^(C)with all your soul, and with all your strength.

^9 (A)having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure ^(B)which He purposed in Himself, ¹⁰ that in the dispensation of ^(C)the fullness of the times ^(D)He might gather together in one ^(E)all things in Christ, ^[a]both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. ^11 (F)In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to ^(G)the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that ^(A)in Me you may have peace. ^(B)In the world you ^[a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, ^(C)I have overcome the world.”
