23 Someone said to him, “Lord, are only a few going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Strive to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able. 25 Once the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open for us!’ He will tell you in reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’

23 Iemand vroeg aan Jezus: "Heer, wordt er maar een klein aantal mensen gered?" 24 Hij antwoordde: "Doe je uiterste best om het Koninkrijk binnen te gaan. Want de poort daarheen is maar smal. Ik zeg jullie dat heel veel mensen zullen proberen om naar binnen te gaan. Maar bij veel van hen zal dat niet lukken. 25 Op een dag zal de Heer van het huis opstaan en de poortdeuren dichtdoen. Dan zullen jullie buiten staan. Jullie zullen op de deur gaan kloppen en zeggen: 'Heer, doe open!' Maar Hij zal tegen jullie zeggen: 'Ik ken jullie niet.'
