¹⁶ And ought not this woman, ^(A)a daughter of Abraham whom ^(B)Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”

⁸ Bear fruits ^(A)in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ^(B)‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from ^(C)these stones to raise up children for Abraham.

²⁷ And he said to them, ^(A)“The Sabbath was made for man, ^(B)not man for the Sabbath.

²⁶ and they may come to their senses and escape from ^(A)the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

²⁶ “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you ^(A)who fear God, to us has been sent ^(B)the message of ^(C)this salvation.

^44 (A)You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. ^(B)He was a murderer from the beginning, and ^(C)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. ^(D)When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

⁹ And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since ^(A)he also is a son of Abraham.

¹¹ And behold, there was a woman who had had ^(A)a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. ¹² When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.”

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, ^(A)Satan! For ^(B)it is written,

¹² and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

The Promise Realized Through Faith

¹³ For ^(A)the promise to Abraham and his offspring ^(B)that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith. ^14 (C)For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. ¹⁵ For ^(D)the law brings wrath, but ^(E)where there is no law ^(F)there is no transgression.
