¹⁴ Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?”

³ So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

²⁰ But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?^(A) “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,^(B) ‘Why did you make me like this?’”^[a](C)

God’s Righteous Judgment

2 You, therefore, have no excuse,^(A) you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.^(B)

¹⁴ The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us?^(A) Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.”

³⁵ “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”

³⁶ Jesus said, “My kingdom^(A) is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders.^(B) But now my kingdom is from another place.”^(C)

¹¹ “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,”^(A) Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”^(B)

¹⁵ Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king^(A) by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.^(B)

²⁰ When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”^(A)
