The Parable of the Rich Fool
13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.” 14 But he said to him, “Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you?” 15 And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.” 16 Then he told them a parable: “The land of a rich man produced abundantly. 17 And he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?’ 18 Then he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ 20 But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God.”
Do Not Worry
22 He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! 25 And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?[a] 26 If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;[b] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying. 30 For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, strive for his[c] kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions, and give alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.

13 (A)Or uno della folla gli disse: «Maestro, di’ a mio fratello che divida con me l’eredità». 14 Ma Gesù gli rispose: «Uomo, chi mi ha costituito su di voi giudice o spartitore?» 15 Poi disse loro: «State attenti e guardatevi da ogni avarizia[a]; perché non è dall’abbondanza dei beni che uno possiede che egli ha la sua vita». 16 E disse loro una parabola: «La campagna di un uomo ricco fruttò abbondantemente; 17 egli ragionava così fra sé: “Che farò, poiché non ho dove riporre i miei raccolti?” E disse: 18 “Questo farò: demolirò i miei granai, ne costruirò altri più grandi, vi raccoglierò tutto il mio grano e i miei beni[b], 19 e dirò all’anima mia: ‘Anima, tu hai molti beni ammassati per molti anni; ripòsati, mangia, bevi, divèrtiti’”. 20 Ma Dio gli disse: “Stolto, questa notte stessa l’anima tua ti sarà ridomandata; e quello che hai preparato, di chi sarà?” 21 Così è di chi accumula tesori per sé e non è ricco davanti a Dio».

22 (B)Poi disse ai {suoi} discepoli: «Perciò vi dico: non siate in ansia per la vita [vostra], di quel che mangerete, né per il corpo, di che vi vestirete; 23 poiché[c] la vita è più del nutrimento, e il corpo più del vestito. 24 Osservate i corvi: non seminano, non mietono, non hanno dispensa né granaio, eppure Dio li nutre. E voi, quanto più degli uccelli valete! 25 E chi di voi può con la propria ansietà aggiungere un’ora sola alla durata della sua vita[d]? 26 Se dunque non potete fare nemmeno ciò che è minimo, perché vi affannate per il resto? 27 Guardate i gigli come crescono: non faticano e non filano; eppure io vi dico che neanche Salomone, con tutta la sua gloria, si vestì come uno di loro. 28 Ora se Dio riveste così l’erba, che oggi è nel campo e domani è gettata nel forno, quanto più vestirà voi, gente di poca fede! 29 Anche voi non state a cercare che cosa mangerete e che cosa berrete[e], e non state in ansia! 30 Perché è la gente del mondo che ricerca tutte queste cose, ma il Padre vostro sa che ne avete bisogno. 31 Cercate piuttosto il suo regno, e queste cose[f] vi saranno date in più.
32 Non temere, piccolo gregge, perché al Padre vostro è piaciuto di darvi il regno.
33 Vendete i vostri beni e dateli in elemosina; fatevi delle borse che non invecchiano, un tesoro inesauribile nei cieli, dove ladro non si avvicina e tignola non rode.

13 Es sprach aber einer aus der Volksmenge zu ihm: Meister, sage meinem Bruder, dass er das Erbe mit mir teilen soll!
14 Er aber sprach zu ihm: Mensch, wer hat mich zum Richter oder Erbteiler über euch gesetzt?
15 Er sagte aber zu ihnen: Habt acht und hütet euch vor der Habsucht! Denn niemandes Leben hängt von dem Überfluss ab, den er an Gütern hat.
16 Und er sagte ihnen ein Gleichnis und sprach: Das Feld eines reichen Mannes hatte viel Frucht getragen.
17 Und er überlegte bei sich selbst und sprach: Was soll ich tun, da ich keinen Platz habe, wo ich meine Früchte aufspeichern kann?
18 Und er sprach: Das will ich tun: Ich will meine Scheunen abbrechen und größere bauen und will darin alles, was mir gewachsen ist, und meine Güter aufspeichern
19 und will zu meiner Seele sagen: Seele, du hast einen großen Vorrat auf viele Jahre; habe nun Ruhe, iss, trink und sei guten Mutes!
20 Aber Gott sprach zu ihm: Du Narr! In dieser Nacht wird man deine Seele von dir fordern; und wem wird gehören, was du bereitet hast?
21 So geht es dem, der für sich selbst Schätze sammelt und nicht reich ist für Gott!
Von unnützen Sorgen
22 Und er sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Darum sage ich euch: Sorgt euch nicht um euer Leben, was ihr essen sollt, noch um den Leib, was ihr anziehen sollt.
23 Das Leben ist mehr als die Speise und der Leib mehr als die Kleidung.
24 Betrachtet die Raben! Sie säen nicht und ernten nicht, sie haben weder Speicher noch Scheunen, und Gott nährt sie doch. Wie viel mehr seid ihr wert als die Vögel!
25 Wer aber von euch kann durch sein Sorgen zu seiner Lebenslänge[a] eine einzige Elle hinzusetzen?
26 Wenn ihr nun nicht einmal das Geringste vermögt, was sorgt ihr euch um das Übrige?
27 Betrachtet die Lilien, wie sie wachsen! Sie mühen sich nicht und spinnen nicht; ich sage euch aber: Selbst Salomo in all seiner Herrlichkeit ist nicht gekleidet gewesen wie eine von ihnen!
28 Wenn aber Gott das Gras auf dem Feld, das heute steht und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, so kleidet, wie viel mehr euch, ihr Kleingläubigen!
29 Und ihr sollt auch nicht danach trachten, was ihr essen oder was ihr trinken sollt; und beunruhigt euch nicht!
30 Denn nach all diesem trachten die Heidenvölker der Welt; euer Vater aber weiß, dass ihr diese Dinge benötigt.
31 Trachtet vielmehr nach dem Reich Gottes, so wird euch dies alles hinzugefügt werden!
32 Fürchte dich nicht, du kleine Herde; denn es hat eurem Vater gefallen, euch das Reich zu geben.
33 Verkauft eure Habe und gebt Almosen![b] Macht euch Beutel, die nicht veralten, einen Schatz, der nicht vergeht, im Himmel, wo kein Dieb hinkommt und keine Motte ihr Zerstörungswerk treibt.

13 A tömegből valaki így kiáltott Jézusnak: „Mester, parancsold meg a testvéremnek, hogy ossza meg velem az örökséget!”
14 Jézus így válaszolt neki: „Ember, ki hatalmazott fel engem, hogy bíráskodjak közöttetek, vagy elosszam az örökségeteket?” 15 Majd az emberekhez fordulva ezt mondta: „Vigyázzatok, és kerüljétek a kapzsiságot, mert az ember élete, nem a vagyonától függ, akármilyen gazdag is!”
16 Ezután egy példázatot mondott nekik: „Volt egy gazdag ember, akinek a birtoka bőséges termést hozott. 17 Azon töprengett, hová tegye a sok termést, mert nem volt elég nagy raktára. 18 Végül így határozott: »Lebontom a raktáraimat, és nagyobbakat építek a sok gabona, meg a többi termény számára. 19 Akkor majd így szólok a lelkemhez: Látod, lelkem, sok évre elegendő vagyonod és gazdagságod van! Egyél-igyál hát, és élvezd az életet!«
20 De Isten megszólította: »Milyen ostoba vagy! Még ma éjjel elkérik tőled a lelkedet. Kié lesz akkor, amit összegyűjtöttél?«
21 Így jár az, aki csak magának gyűjt kincseket, és nem Isten mértéke szerint gazdag!”

22 A tanítványaihoz fordulva így folytatta: „Ezért azt mondom nektek: Ne aggódjatok az életetek miatt, hogy mit fogtok enni és inni, se testetek miatt, hogy mibe fogtok öltözni! 23 Hiszen nagyobb dolog életet adni, mint az ételről gondoskodni! Nagyobb dolog testet alkotni, mint ruhát készíteni!
24 Nézzétek a hollókat: nem vetnek, nem aratnak, nincs sem raktáruk, sem magtáruk, Isten mégis táplálja őket! Mennyivel értékesebbek vagytok ti a madaraknál!
25 Ki tudná közületek aggodalmaskodásával akár csak egy órával is meghosszabbítani az életét? 26 Ha pedig még ennyit sem tudsz elérni a saját erődből, akkor mi értelme van a nagyobb dolgok felől aggódni?
27 Figyeljétek meg a mezőn a vadvirágokat, hogyan növekednek! Nem fáradoznak, hogy ruhát készítsenek maguknak. Mégis azt mondom nektek, hogy Salamon király a dicsősége csúcsán sem öltözködött olyan szépen, mint ezek. 28 Látjátok, ezek a növények ma még virágzanak, holnapra már elszáradnak, és a tűzbe dobják őket, Isten mégis milyen gyönyörűen öltözteti őket! Akkor titeket mennyivel inkább! Ne legyetek hát kishitűek!
29 Ne aggódjatok hát amiatt, hogy lesz-e mit ennetek, vagy innotok! 30 Azok törtetnek ilyen dolgok után, akik nem ismerik Istent. Mennyei Atyátok azonban jól tudja, hogy mindezekre szükségetek van.
31 Isten Királyságával törődjetek — erre törekedjetek mindenek előtt! Isten pedig majd törődik azzal, amire szükségetek van. 32 Ne félj, te kicsiny nyájacska, mert Mennyei Atyátoknak úgy tetszett, hogy nektek adja a Királyságot!”

13 Du milieu de la foule, un homme dit à Jésus : Maître, dis à mon frère de partager avec moi l’héritage que notre père nous a laissé !
14 Mais Jésus lui répondit : Mon ami, qui m’a établi pour être votre juge ou votre arbitre en matière d’héritage ?
15 Puis il dit à tous : Gardez-vous avec soin du désir de posséder, sous toutes ses formes, car la vie d’un homme, si riche soit-il, ne dépend pas de ses biens.
16 Il leur raconta alors cette parabole : Le domaine d’un riche propriétaire avait rapporté de façon exceptionnelle. 17 L’homme se mit à réfléchir : « Que faire ? se demandait-il. Je n’ai pas assez de place pour engranger toute ma récolte ! 18 Ah, se dit-il enfin, je sais ce que je vais faire ! Je vais démolir mes greniers pour en construire de plus grands, et j’y entasserai tout mon blé et tous mes autres biens. 19 Après quoi, je pourrai me dire : Mon ami, te voilà pourvu de biens en réserve pour de nombreuses années. Repose-toi, mange, bois et jouis de la vie ! » 20 Mais Dieu lui dit : « Pauvre fou que tu es ! Cette nuit même, tu vas mourir. Et tout ce que tu as préparé pour toi, qui va en profiter ? »
21 Voilà quel sera le sort de tout homme qui amasse des richesses pour lui-même, au lieu de chercher à être riche auprès de Dieu[a].

22 Jésus ajouta, en s’adressant à ses disciples : C’est pourquoi je vous dis : ne vous inquiétez pas en vous demandant : Qu’allons-nous manger ? Avec quoi allons-nous nous habiller ? 23 La vie vaut bien plus que la nourriture. Le corps vaut bien plus que le vêtement.
24 Considérez les corbeaux, ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent ; ils n’ont ni cave, ni grenier et Dieu les nourrit. Vous valez bien plus qu’eux ! 25 D’ailleurs, qui de vous peut, à force d’inquiétude, prolonger son existence, ne serait-ce que de quelques instants[b] ? 26 Si donc vous n’avez aucun pouvoir sur ces petites choses, pourquoi vous inquiétez-vous au sujet des autres ? 27 Considérez les lis ! Ils poussent sans se fatiguer à tisser[c] des vêtements. Et pourtant, je vous l’assure, le roi Salomon lui-même, dans toute sa gloire, n’a jamais été aussi bien vêtu que l’un d’eux ! 28 Si Dieu habille ainsi cette petite plante dans les champs, qui est là aujourd’hui et qui demain déjà sera jetée au feu, à combien plus forte raison vous vêtira-t-il vous-mêmes ! Ah, votre foi est bien petite !
29 Ne vous faites donc pas de soucis au sujet du manger et du boire, et ne vous tourmentez pas pour cela. 30 Toutes ces choses, les païens de ce monde s’en préoccupent sans cesse. Mais votre Père sait que vous en avez besoin. 31 Faites donc plutôt du royaume de Dieu votre préoccupation première, et ces choses vous seront données en plus.
32 N’aie pas peur, petit troupeau ! Car il a plu à votre Père de vous donner le royaume.

33 Vendez ce que vous possédez, et distribuez-en le produit aux pauvres. Fabriquez-vous des bourses inusables et constituez-vous un trésor inaltérable dans le ciel où aucun cambrioleur ne peut l’atteindre, ni aucune mite l’entamer.
