11 Dhe ndodhi që ai ndodhej në një vend dhe lutej dhe, si mbaroi, një nga dishepujt e tij i tha: “Zot, na mëso të lutemi, ashtu siç i mësoi Gjoni dishepujt e vet.”
2 Dhe ai u tha: “Kur të luteni, thoni: "Ati ynë që je në qiej, u shenjtëroftë emri yt, ardhtë mbretëria jote, u bëftë vullneti yt si në qiell edhe në tokë.
3 Na jep çdo ditë bukën tonë të nevojshme.
4 Dhe na i fal mëkatet tona, sepse edhe ne i falim fajtorët tanë; dhe mos lejo të biem në tundim, por na shpëto nga i ligu".”
5 Pastaj u tha atyre: “A ka midis jush njeri që ka një mik dhe i shkon në mesnatë e i thotë: "Mik, më jep hua tri bukë,
6 sepse më erdhi nga udha një miku im dhe unë s’kam çfarë t’i vë përpara";
7 dhe ai, nga brenda, duke u përgjigjur, i tha: "Mos më bezdis, dera është tashmë e mbyllur dhe fëmijët e mi ranë në shtrat me mua; nuk mund të çohem e të t’i jap"?
8 Unë po ju them se, edhe nëse nuk çohet t’ia japë sepse e ka mik, do të çohet gjithsesi për shkak të insistimit të tij dhe do t’i japë të gjitha bukët që i nevojiten.
9 Prandaj po ju them: Lypni dhe do t’ju jepet; kërkoni dhe do të gjeni; trokitni dhe do t’ju hapet.
10 Sepse kushdo që lyp, merr, kush kërkon, gjen dhe do t’i hapet atij që troket.
11 Dhe cili nga ju është baba i tillë që, po t’i kërkojë bukë djali, i jep një gur? Ose po t’i kërkojë një peshk, në vend të peshkut i jep një gjarpër?
12 Ose, po t’i kërkojë një vezë, i jep një akrep?
13 Nëse ju, pra, që jeni të këqij, dini t’u jepni dhurata të mira bijve tuaj, aq më tepër Ati juaj qiellor do t’u dhurojë Frymën e Shenjtë atyre që ia kërkojnë.”
14 Dhe Jezusi po dëbonte një demon që ishte memec; dhe ndodhi që, kur demoni doli, memeci foli dhe turmat u mrekulluan.
15 Por disa nga ata thanë: “Ai i dëbon demonët nëpërmjet Beelzebubit, princit të demonëve.”
16 Kurse disa nga ata, për ta vënë në provë, kërkonin prej tij një shenjë nga qielli.
17 Por ai, duke i njohur mendimet e tyre, u tha atyre: “Çdo mbretëri, e përçarë në vetvete shkatërrohet, dhe çdo shtëpi e përçarë në vetvete rrëzohet.
18 Po të jetë, pra, edhe Satanai i përçarë në vetvete, si do të mund të qëndrojë mbretëria e tij? Sepse ju thoni se unë i dëboj demonët nëpërmjet Beelzebubit.
19 Por, nëse unë i dëbokam demonët nëpërmjet Beelzebubit, nëpërmjet kujt i dëbojnë ata bijtë tuaj? Prandaj ata do të jenë gjykatësit tuaj.
20 Por në se unë i dëboj demonët me gishtin e Perëndisë, mbretëria e Perëndisë, pra ka arritur deri te ju.
21 Kur burri i fortë, i armatosur mirë, e ruan shtëpinë e vet, pasuria e tij është në paqe.
22 Por në qoftë se vjen një më i fortë se ai dhe e mund atë, ia merr armët në të cilat kishte shpresë dhe i ndan plaçkat e tij.
23 Kush nuk është me mua, është kundër meje dhe kush nuk mbledh me mua, shpërndan.
24 Kur fryma e ndyrë del nga një njeri, endet në vende të shkreta, duke kërkuar pushim, dhe duke mos e gjetur dot, thotë: "Do të kthehem në shtëpinë time nga dola".
25 Dhe, kur kthehet, e gjen të fshirë e të zbukuruar,
26 atëherë shkon e merr me vete shtatë frymëra të tjerë më të këqij se ai, dha ata hyjnë aty dhe banojnë aty; dhe gjendja e fundit e atij njeriu bëhet më e keqe se e para.”
27 Ndodhi që, ndërsa ai po thoshte këto gjëra, një grua nga turma e çoi zërin e saj dhe i tha: “Lum barku që të barti dhe gjinjtë që të mëndën.”
28 Por ai u tha: “Me tepër lum ata që e dëgjojnë fjalën e Perëndisë dhe e zbatojnë.”
29 Duke qenë se turmat po i shtyheshin përreth, ai filloi të thotë: “Ky brez është i lig; ai kërkon nje shenjë, por asnjë shenjë nuk do t’i jepet, përveç shenjës së profetit Jona.
30 Sepse, ashtu si Jona qe një shenjë për Ninivasit, kështu edhe Biri i njeriut do të jetë një shenjë për këtë brez.
31 Mbretëresha e Mesditës do të ngrihet ditën e gjyqit me njerëzit e këtij brezi dhe do t’i dënojë, sepse ajo po vjen nga skaji i dheut për të dëgjuar urtësinë e Salomonit; dhe ja, këtu është dikush më i madh se Salomoni.
32 Ninivasit, ditën e gjyqit, do të ringjallen me këtë brez dhe do ta dënojnë, sepse ata u penduan për predikimin e Jonas; dhe ja, këtu është dikush më i madh se Jona.”
33 Asnjëri, kur ndez një llambë, nuk e vë në një vend të fshehtë ose nën babunë, po përmbi dritëmbajtësen, që të shohin dritë ata që hyjnë.
34 Llamba e trupit është syri; në se syri yt është i shëndoshë, gjithë trupi yt do të jetë i ndriçuar; por në se syri yt është i sëmurë, edhe gjithë trupi yt do të jetë plot me errësirë.
35 Prandaj trego kujdes që drita që është në ty të mos jetë terr.
36 Në se gjithë trupi yt është i ndriçuar, pa asnjë pjesë të errët, gjithçka do të jetë e ndriçuar, sikurse ndodh kur llamba të ndriçon me shkëlqimin e saj.”
37 Por ndërsa Jezusi po fliste, një farise e ftoi për drekë në shtëpinë e vet. Dhe ai hyri dhe u vendos në tryezë.
38 Fariseu e vuri re këtë dhe u mrekullua që Jezusit nuk lau para buke.
39 Dhe Zoti i tha: “Tani ju farisenjtë pastroni të jashtmen e kupës dhe të pjatës, ndërsa brendinë tuaj e keni plot me grabitje dhe ligësi.
40 Të pamend! Ai që bëri anën e jashtme, vallë nuk bëri edhe të brendshmen?
41 Por jepni si lëmoshë atë që është përbrenda, dhe çdo gjë do të jetë e pastër për ju.
42 Por mjerë ju, o farisenj! Sepse ju paguani të dhjetën e ryzës, të mendrës dhe të çdo barishteje, dhe pastaj lini pas dore drejtësinë dhe dashurinë e Perëndisë. Këto gjëra duhet t’i bënit, pa i lënë pas dore të tjerat.
43 Mjerë ju, o farisenj! Sepse ju e doni vendin e parë ndër sinagoga dhe përshëndetjet nëpër sheshe.
44 Mjerë ju, skribë dhe farisenj hipokritë! Sepse jeni si varret që nuk shihen dhe njërëzit ecin sipër tyre, pa e ditur.”
45 Atëherë, duke u përgjigjur, një nga mësuesit e ligjit, i tha: “Mësues, duke folur kështu, ti po na fyen edhe ne.”
46 Dhe ai thoshte: “Mjerë edhe ju, o mësues të ligjit! Sepse i ngarkoni njerëzit me barrë që me vështirësi baren, dhe ju nuk i prekni ato barrë as edhe me një gisht.
47 Mjerë ju! Sepse ju ndërtuat varret e profetëve dhe etërit tuaj i patën vrarë ata.
48 Duke vepruar në këtë mënyrë, ju dëshmoni se i miratoni veprat e etërve tuaj; në fakt ata vranë profetët dhe ju ndërtoni varret e tyre.
49 Për këtë arsye edhe urtësia e Perëndisë tha: "Unë do t’u dërgoj profetë dhe apostuj, dhe ata do të vrasin disa prej tyre kurse të tjerët do t’i përndjekin,"
50 me qëllim që këtij brezi t’i kërkohet llogari për gjakun e të gjithë profetëve, i cili u derdh që nga krijimi i botës:
51 nga gjaku i Abelit deri te gjaku i Zakarias, që u vra ndërmjet altarit dhe tempullit; po, unë po ju them, se këtij brezi do t’i kërkohet llogari.
52 Mjerë ju, o mësues të ligjit! Sepse ju e morët çelësin e dijes; ju vetë nuk hytë dhe penguat hyrjen e atyre që po hynin.”
53 Po ndërsa ai u fliste atyre këto gjëra, skribët dhe farisenjtë filluan të zemërohen shumë kundër tij dhe ta sulmojnë atë me shumë pyetje,
54 për t’i ngritur kurthe, për ta zënë në gabim e për të mundur ta akuzojnë për ndonjë fjalë të tij.

11 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say:
(B)Our[a] Father [b]in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
[c]Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And (C)forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
[d]But deliver us from the evil one.”
A Friend Comes at Midnight
5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, (D)though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking(E)
9 (F)“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; (G)seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 (H)If a son asks for [e]bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give (I)good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
A House Divided Cannot Stand(J)
14 (K)And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled. 15 But some of them said, (L)“He casts out demons by [f]Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
16 Others, testing Him, (M)sought from Him a sign from heaven. 17 (N)But (O)He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. 18 If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. 19 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20 But if I cast out demons (P)with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21 (Q)When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. 22 But (R)when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his [g]spoils. 23 (S)He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
An Unclean Spirit Returns(T)
24 (U)“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. 26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and (V)the last state of that man is worse than the first.”
Keeping the Word
27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, (W)“Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”
28 But He said, (X)“More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
Seeking a Sign(Y)
29 (Z)And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks a (AA)sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah [h]the prophet. 30 For as (AB)Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation. 31 (AC)The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a (AD)greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for (AE)they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.
The Lamp of the Body(AF)
33 (AG)“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a (AH)basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light. 34 (AI)The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is [i]good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is [j]bad, your body also is full of darkness. 35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. 36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”
Woe to the Pharisees and Lawyers
37 And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and sat down to eat. 38 (AJ)When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner.
39 (AK)Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but (AL)your inward part is full of [k]greed and wickedness. 40 Foolish ones! Did not (AM)He who made the outside make the inside also? 41 (AN)But rather give alms of [l]such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.
42 (AO)“But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and (AP)pass by justice and the (AQ)love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. 43 (AR)Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the [m]best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. 44 (AS)Woe to you, [n]scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! (AT)For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them.”
45 Then one of the lawyers answered and said to Him, “Teacher, by saying these things You reproach us also.”
46 And He said, “Woe to you also, lawyers! (AU)For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 (AV)Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48 In fact, you bear witness that you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they indeed killed them, and you build their tombs. 49 Therefore the wisdom of God also said, (AW)‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ 50 that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, 51 (AX)from the blood of Abel to (AY)the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.
52 (AZ)“Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”
53 [o]And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail Him vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things, 54 lying in wait for Him, [p]and (BA)seeking to catch Him in something He might say, [q]that they might accuse Him.

—Señor, enséñanos a orar, así como Juan enseñó a sus discípulos.
2 Él les dijo:
—Cuando oren, digan:
»“Padre,[a]
santificado sea tu nombre.
Venga tu reino.[b]
3 Danos cada día nuestro pan cotidiano.[c]
4 Perdónanos nuestros pecados,
porque también nosotros perdonamos a todos los que nos ofenden.[d]
Y no nos dejes caer en tentación”.[e]
5 »Supongamos —continuó— que uno de ustedes tiene un amigo y a medianoche va y le dice: “Amigo, préstame tres panes, 6 pues se me ha presentado un amigo recién llegado de viaje y no tengo nada que ofrecerle”. 7 Y el que está adentro le contesta: “No me molestes. Ya está cerrada la puerta y mis hijos y yo estamos acostados. No puedo levantarme a darte nada”. 8 Les digo que, aunque no se levante a darle pan por ser amigo suyo, sí se levantará por su impertinencia y le dará cuanto necesite.
9 »Así que yo digo: Pidan y se les dará; busquen y encontrarán; llamen y se les abrirá. 10 Porque todo el que pide, recibe; el que busca, encuentra y al que llama, se le abre.
11 »¿Quién de ustedes que sea padre, si su hijo pide[f] un pescado, le dará en cambio una serpiente? 12 ¿O si pide un huevo, le dará un escorpión? 13 Pues si ustedes, aun siendo malos, saben dar cosas buenas a sus hijos, ¡cuánto más el Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a quienes se lo pidan!
Jesús y Beelzebú(C)(D)
14 En otra ocasión Jesús expulsaba de un hombre a un demonio que lo había dejado mudo. Cuando salió el demonio, el mudo habló y la gente quedó asombrada. 15 Pero algunos dijeron: «Este expulsa a los demonios por medio de Beelzebú, príncipe de los demonios». 16 Otros, para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían una señal del cielo.
17 Como él conocía sus pensamientos, les dijo: «Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo quedará asolado, y una casa dividida contra sí misma se derrumbará.[g] 18 Por tanto, si Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo puede mantenerse en pie su reino? Lo pregunto porque ustedes dicen que yo expulso a los demonios por medio de Beelzebú. 19 Ahora bien, si yo expulso a los demonios por medio de Beelzebú, ¿los seguidores de ustedes por medio de quién los expulsan? Por eso ellos mismos los juzgarán a ustedes. 20 Pero si expulso a los demonios con el poderoso dedo de Dios, eso significa que el reino de Dios ha llegado a ustedes.
21 »Cuando un hombre fuerte y bien armado cuida su hacienda, sus bienes están seguros. 22 Pero si lo ataca otro más fuerte que él y lo vence, le quita las armas en que confiaba y reparte el botín.
23 »El que no está de mi parte está contra mí; y el que conmigo no recoge esparce.
24 »Cuando un espíritu maligno sale de una persona, va por lugares áridos buscando descanso sin encontrarlo. Entonces dice: “Volveré a mi casa, de donde salí”. 25 Cuando llega, la encuentra barrida y arreglada. 26 Luego va y trae a otros siete espíritus más malvados que él y entran a vivir allí. Así que el estado final de aquella persona resulta peor que el inicial».
27 Mientras Jesús decía estas cosas, una mujer de entre la multitud exclamó:
—¡Dichosa la mujer que te dio a luz y te amamantó![h]
28 —Dichosos más bien —contestó Jesús— los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la obedecen.
La señal de Jonás(E)
29 Como crecía la multitud, Jesús se puso a decirles: «¡Esta es una generación malvada! Pide una señal milagrosa, pero no se le dará más señal que la de Jonás. 30 Así como Jonás fue una señal para los habitantes de Nínive, también lo será el Hijo del hombre para esta generación. 31 La reina del Sur se levantará en el día del juicio y condenará a esta generación; porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón y aquí tienen ustedes a uno más importante que Salomón. 32 Los habitantes de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio contra esta generación y la condenarán; porque ellos se arrepintieron al escuchar la predicación de Jonás y aquí tienen ustedes a uno más importante que Jonás.
La lámpara del cuerpo(F)
33 »Nadie enciende una lámpara para luego ponerla en un lugar escondido o cubrirla con una vasija, sino para ponerla en un candelero, a fin de que los que entren tengan luz. 34 Tus ojos son la lámpara de tu cuerpo. Si tus ojos son buenos, todo tu ser disfrutará de la luz; pero si son malos, todo tu ser estará en la oscuridad.[i] 35 Asegúrate de que la luz que crees tener no sea oscuridad. 36 Por tanto, si todo tu ser disfruta de la luz, sin que ninguna parte quede en la oscuridad, estarás completamente iluminado, como cuando una lámpara te alumbra con su luz».
Jesús denuncia a los fariseos y a los expertos en la Ley
37 Cuando Jesús terminó de hablar, un fariseo lo invitó a comer con él; así que entró en la casa y se sentó a la mesa. 38 Pero el fariseo se sorprendió al ver que Jesús no había cumplido con el rito de lavarse antes de comer.
39 —Resulta que ustedes los fariseos —les dijo el Señor— limpian el vaso y el plato por fuera, pero por dentro están llenos de robo y de maldad. 40 ¡Necios! ¿Acaso el que hizo lo de afuera no hizo también lo de adentro? 41 Den más bien a los pobres de lo que está dentro,[j] y así todo quedará limpio para ustedes.
42 »¡Ay de ustedes, fariseos!, que dan la décima parte de la menta, de la ruda y de toda clase de legumbres, pero descuidan la justicia y el amor de Dios. Debían haber practicado esto, sin dejar de hacer aquello.
43 »¡Ay de ustedes, fariseos!, que se mueren por los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los saludos en las plazas.
44 »¡Ay de ustedes!, que son como tumbas sin lápida, sobre las que anda la gente sin darse cuenta».
45 Uno de los expertos en la Ley le respondió:
—Maestro, al hablar así nos insultas también a nosotros.
46 Contestó Jesús:
—¡Ay de ustedes también, expertos en la Ley! Abruman a los demás con cargas que apenas se pueden soportar, pero ustedes mismos no mueven ni un dedo para levantarlas.
47 »¡Ay de ustedes!, que construyen monumentos para los profetas, a quienes mataron sus antepasados. 48 En realidad[k] aprueban lo que hicieron sus antepasados; ellos mataron a los profetas y ustedes construyen los sepulcros. 49 Por eso dijo Dios en su sabiduría: “Les enviaré profetas y apóstoles, de los cuales matarán a unos y perseguirán a otros”. 50 Por lo tanto, a esta generación se le pedirá cuentas de la sangre de todos los profetas derramada desde la creación del mundo, 51 desde la sangre de Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, el que murió entre el altar y el santuario. Sí, les aseguro que de todo esto se le pedirá cuentas a esta generación.
52 »¡Ay de ustedes, expertos en la Ley!, porque se han adueñado de la llave del conocimiento. Ustedes mismos no han entrado, y a los que intentan hacerlo, les han cerrado el paso».
53 Cuando Jesús salió de allí, los maestros de la Ley y los fariseos, resentidos, se pusieron a acosarlo con preguntas. 54 Estaban tendiéndole trampas para ver si fallaba en algo.
