^48 (A)So you are witnesses and you ^(B)consent to the deeds of ^(C)your fathers, for they killed them, and you build their tombs.

¹⁰ As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take ^(A)the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

^51 (A)“You stiff-necked people, ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. ^(C)As your fathers did, so do you. ^52 (D)Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of ^(E)the Righteous One, ^(F)whom you have now betrayed and murdered,

³¹ Thus you witness against yourselves that you are ^(A)sons of those who murdered the prophets.

^35 (A)And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and ^(B)stoned another. ^36 (C)Again he sent other servants, more than the first. And they did the same to them. ³⁷ Finally he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ ³⁸ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ^(D)‘This is the heir. Come, ^(E)let us kill him and have his inheritance.’

¹⁹ “Yet you say, ^(A)‘Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done ^(B)what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, ^(C)he shall surely live.

^16 (A)But they kept mocking the messengers of God, ^(B)despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, ^(C)until the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.
