^44 (A)Woe to you, ^[a]scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! ^(B)For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them.”

³ Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! For you sit to judge me according to the law, and ^(A)do you command me to be struck contrary to the law?”

²⁷ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! ^(A)For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

^16 (A)Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
