²⁸ But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”^(A)

⁴⁷ I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them.^{(A) 48} That one is like a man building a house who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when a flood arose, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built.^[a]

²¹ But he said to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”^(A)

Psalm 112

Blessings of the Righteous

²¹ Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls.^(A)

²² But be doers of the word and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.^{(B) 23} For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves^[a] in a mirror;^{(C) 24} for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like. ²⁵ But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing.^(D)

¹⁷ If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

Psalm 1

The Two Ways

²¹ Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God, ²² and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.^(A)

²³ And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.^{(B) 24} All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.^(C)
