¹⁸ If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub.

²⁶ If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

The Unpardonable Sin^(A)

³¹ “Therefore I say to you, ^(B)every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, ^(C)but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. ³² Anyone who ^(D)speaks a word against the Son of Man, ^(E)it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

A Tree Known by Its Fruit^(F)

³³ “Either make the tree good and ^(G)its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. ^34 (H)Brood^[a] of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? ^(I)For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

⁵ Even so ^(A)the tongue is a little member and ^(B)boasts great things.

See how great a forest a little fire kindles! ⁶ And ^(C)the tongue is a fire, a world of ^[a]iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it ^(D)defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of ^[b]nature; and it is set on fire by ^[c]hell. ⁷ For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, ^(E)full of deadly poison.

¹⁵ But some of them said, ^(A)“He casts out demons by ^[a]Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, ^[a]“Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ^(A)‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
