^17 (A)But ^(B)He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls.

^23 (A)So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan? ²⁴ If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵ And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ²⁶ And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. ^27 (B)No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

²⁵ But Jesus ^(A)knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. ²⁶ If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? ²⁷ And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. ²⁸ But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, ^(B)surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. ^29 (C)Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.

²³ I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who ^(A)searches^[a] the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

²⁵ and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for ^(A)He knew what was in man.

⁴ But Jesus, ^(A)knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?

¹⁶ And the children of Israel fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hand. ¹⁷ Then Abijah and his people struck them with a great slaughter; so five hundred thousand choice men of Israel fell slain.
