Jesus and Beelzebul

^14 (A)Now he was casting out a demon that was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke, and the people marveled.

³² And they brought to him ^(A)a man who was deaf and ^(B)had a speech impediment, and they begged him to ^(C)lay his hand on him. ³³ And ^(D)taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and ^(E)after spitting touched his tongue. ³⁴ And ^(F)looking up to heaven, ^(G)he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” ^35 (H)And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. ³⁶ And ^(I)Jesus^[a] charged them to tell no one. But ^(J)the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. ³⁷ And they were ^(K)astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

^22 (A)Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw. ^23 (B)And all the people were amazed, and said, ^(C)“Can this be the Son of David?” ²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, ^(D)“It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons.”

Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak

³² As they were going away, behold, a ^(A)demon-oppressed man who was mute ^(B)was brought to him. ³³ And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds ^(C)marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” ³⁴ But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”
