The Lord's Prayer

11 Now Jesus^[a] was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, ^(A)as John taught his disciples.” ²And he said to them, ^(B)“When you pray, say:

^(C)“Father, ^(D)hallowed be ^(E)your name.
^(F)Your kingdom come.
³^(G)Give us ^(H)each day our daily bread,^[b]
⁴and ^(I)forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And ^(J)lead us not into temptation.”

Jesus Prays in Gethsemane

³²^(A)And they went ^(B)to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” ³³And he took with him ^(C)Peter and James and John, and began ^(D)to be greatly distressed and troubled. ³⁴And he said to them, ^(E)“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and ^(F)watch.”^[a] ³⁵And going a little farther, he fell on the ground ^(G)and prayed that, if it were possible, ^(H)the hour might pass from him. ³⁶And he said, ^(I)“Abba, Father, ^(J)all things are possible for you. Remove ^(K)this cup from me. ^(L)Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
