² Then He said to them, ^(A)“The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore ^(B)pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

^36 (A)But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were ^[a]weary and scattered, ^(B)like sheep having no shepherd. ³⁷ Then He said to His disciples, ^(C)“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. ^38 (D)Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

³⁵ Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes ^(A)the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, ^(B)for they are already white for harvest! ^36 (C)And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that ^(D)both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. ³⁷ For in this the saying is true: ^(E)‘One sows and another reaps.’ ³⁸ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; ^(F)others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

^6 (A)I planted, ^(B)Apollos watered, ^(C)but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then ^(D)neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. ⁸ Now he who plants and he who waters are one, ^(E)and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

⁹ For ^(F)we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are ^(G)God’s building.

Pray for Us

3 Finally, brethren, ^(A)pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you,

Various Exhortations

¹² And we urge you, brethren, ^(A)to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and ^[a]admonish you,

^34 (A)It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave ^(B)authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.

⁵ But you be watchful in all things, ^(A)endure afflictions, do the work of ^(B)an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

¹⁵ Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. ¹⁶ Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
