Woe to Unrepentant Cities
13 (A)“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in (B)Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 (C)But it will be more bearable in the judgment for (D)Tyre and Sidon than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, (E)will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to (F)Hades.
16 (G)“The one who hears you hears me, and (H)the one who rejects you rejects me, and (I)the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
The Return of the Seventy-Two
17 (J)The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, (K)even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18 And he said to them, (L)“I saw Satan (M)fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority (N)to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of (O)the enemy, and (P)nothing shall hurt you. 20 (Q)Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that (R)your names are written in heaven.”

13 “Woe to you,(A) Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth(B) and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum,(C) will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[a]
16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”(D)
17 The seventy-two(E) returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”(F)
18 He replied, “I saw Satan(G) fall like lightning from heaven.(H) 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes(I) and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”(J)
