⁸ So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division,

¹⁴ And, according to the ^[a]order of David his father, he appointed the ^(A)divisions of the priests for their service, ^(B)the Levites for their duties (to praise and serve before the priests) as the duty of each day required, and the ^(C)gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate; for so David the man of God had commanded.

¹⁹ This was the schedule of their service ^(A)for coming into the house of the Lord according to their ordinance by the hand of Aaron their father, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded him.

² And Hezekiah appointed ^(A)the divisions of the priests and the Levites according to their divisions, each man according to his service, the priests and Levites ^(B)for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to serve, to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the ^[a]camp of the Lord.

⁵ There was ^(A)in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, ^(B)of the division of ^(C)Abijah. His ^(D)wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

¹⁸ They assigned the priests to their ^(A)divisions and the Levites to their ^(B)divisions, over the service of God in Jerusalem, ^(C)as it is written in the Book of Moses.

¹⁹ Also for the sons of Aaron the priests, who were in ^(A)the fields of the common-lands of their cities, in every single city, there were men who were ^(B)designated by name to distribute portions to all the males among the priests and to all who were listed by genealogies among the Levites.

¹⁴ For the Levites left ^(A)their common-lands and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for ^(B)Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them from serving as priests to the Lord.

⁷ Therefore ^(A)you and your sons with you shall attend to your priesthood for everything at the altar and ^(B)behind the veil; and you shall serve. I give your priesthood to you as a ^(C)gift for service, but the outsider who comes near shall be put to death.”

^30 (A)And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.
