⁶⁴ Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, praising God.

²⁰ But behold, ^(A)you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.”

⁹ Then the Lord put forth His hand and ^(A)touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:

²² Now ^(A)the hand of the Lord had been upon me the evening before the man came who had escaped. And He had ^(B)opened my mouth; so when he came to me in the morning, my mouth was opened, and I was no longer mute.

¹⁵ Now ^(A)you shall speak to him and ^(B)put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and ^(C)I will teach you what you shall do. ¹⁶ So he shall be your spokesman to the people. And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, and ^(D)you shall be to him as God.

Nebuchadnezzar Praises God

³² Then ^(A)they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. ³³ And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and ^(B)He spat and touched his tongue. ³⁴ Then, ^(C)looking up to heaven, ^(D)He sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.”

^35 (E)Immediately his ears were opened, and the ^[a]impediment of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. ³⁶ Then ^(F)He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it. ³⁷ And they were ^(G)astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He ^(H)makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

³³ And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. And the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never seen like this in Israel!”
