¹⁵ For he will be ^(A)great in the sight of the Lord, and ^(B)shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, ^(C)even from his mother’s womb.

¹⁸ And ^(A)do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, ^(A)who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,

⁴ And ^(A)they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began ^(B)to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

³³ For ^(A)John the Baptist came ^(B)neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’

⁴ Now therefore, please be careful ^(A)not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean. ⁵ For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no ^(B)razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be ^(C)a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall ^(D)begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

⁶ So the woman came and told her husband, saying, ^(E)“A Man of God came to me, and His ^(F)countenance^[a] was like the countenance of the Angel of God, very awesome; but I ^(G)did not ask Him where He was from, and He did not tell me His name.

² “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When either a man or woman ^[a]consecrates an offering to take the vow of a Nazirite, ^(A)to separate himself to the Lord, ^3 (B)he shall separate himself from wine and similar drink; he shall drink neither vinegar made from wine nor vinegar made from similar drink; neither shall he drink any grape juice, nor eat fresh grapes or raisins. ⁴ All the days of his ^[b]separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, from seed to skin.

¹⁴ On that day the Lord ^(A)exalted^[a] Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they had feared Moses, all the days of his life.
