³⁰ Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found ^(A)favor with God. ^31 (B)And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and ^(C)shall call His name Jesus. ³² He will be great, ^(D)and will be called the Son of the Highest; and ^(E)the Lord God will give Him the ^(F)throne of His ^(G)father David. ^33 (H)And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

³⁴ Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I ^[a]do not know a man?”

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, ^(I)“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called ^(J)the Son of God.

The Eternal Word^(A)

1 In the beginning ^(B)was the Word, and the ^(C)Word was ^(D)with God, and the Word was ^(E)God. ^2 (F)He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (G)All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. ^4 (H)In Him was life, and ^(I)the life was the light of men. ⁵ And ^(J)the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not ^[a]comprehend it.

The Word Becomes Flesh

^14 (A)And the Word ^(B)became ^(C)flesh and dwelt among us, and ^(D)we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ^(E)full of grace and truth.

^16 [a]And of His ^(A)fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For ^(B)the law was given through Moses, but ^(C)grace and ^(D)truth came through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Dies on the Cross^(A)

^45 (B)Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.

⁵⁰ And Jesus ^(A)cried out again with a loud voice, and ^(B)yielded up His spirit.

^54 (A)So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, ^(B)“Truly this was the Son of God!”

He Is Risen^(A)

24 Now ^(B)on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, ^[a]and certain other women with them, came to the tomb ^(C)bringing the spices which they had prepared. ^2 (D)But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. ^3 (E)Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ⁴ And it happened, as they were ^[b]greatly perplexed about this, that ^(F)behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. ⁵ Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? ⁶ He is not here, but is risen! ^(G)Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying, ‘The Son of Man must be ^(H)delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”

⁴⁶ Then He said to them, ^(A)“Thus it is written, ^[a]and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, ⁴⁷ and that repentance and ^(B)remission of sins should be preached in His name ^(C)to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
