7 ¶ (A)[a]Now Herod the Tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he [b]doubted, because that it was said of some, that John was risen again from the dead:
8 And of some, that Elijah had appeared: and of some, that one of the old Prophets was risen again.
9 Then Herod said, John have I beheaded: who then is this of whom I hear such things? and he desired to see him.

7 Now Herod(A) the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed because some were saying that John(B) had been raised from the dead,(C) 8 others that Elijah had appeared,(D) and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life.(E) 9 But Herod said, “I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?” And he tried to see him.(F)
