44 “Let these words sink into your ears: (A)The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” 45 (B)But they did not understand this saying, and (C)it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

46 (D)An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side 48 and said to them, (E)“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and (F)whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For (G)he who is least among all of you is the one who is great.”

44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.”(A) 45 But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it,(B) and they were afraid to ask him about it.
46 An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest.(C) 47 Jesus, knowing their thoughts,(D) took a little child and had him stand beside him. 48 Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.(E) For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”(F)
