Luke 9:18-20

¹⁸^(B)And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”

¹⁹So they answered and said, ^(C)“John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

²⁰He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

^(D)Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”

¹⁸Once when Jesus was praying^(C) in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?”

¹⁹They replied, “Some say John the Baptist;^(D) others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.”^(E)

²⁰“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”^(F)
